For suppliers (publishers and creator/publishers) here’s how to sell your comics and graphic novels here at ComicsMonkey –
1) You must be a registered user at
Ka-Blam.com. It’s free and easy to set up an account there.
2) For anything you want to offer for sale here at ComicsMonkey you must first place an order for that item at Ka-Blam.
You don’t have to actually buy anything if you don’t want. Your order can have a quantity of “0”. If your items are supplied in compliance with
Ka-Blam's technical specifications, there's no initial setup fee, so if you follow all of the instructions listing a product here at ComicsMonkey can be done with absolutely no out of pocket costs to you.
The purpose of placing an order at Ka-Blam is to get you and your items into the Ka-Blam system. Ka-Blam handles all of the printing and order fulfillment for ComicsMonkey. Each user at Ka-Blam is assigned a user number and each item has a unique item number – this is how everything is tracked and managed. If you’re already a registered Ka-Blam user and have placed orders in the past for the same items you’d now like to sell here then listing your items here will be a breeze.
3) All items available through ComicsMonkey must be
Point-of-Sale ready. This means that each item must have a unique product identification number (UPC for comics or ISBN for hard or soft cover books) and a scan-able bar code printed on the cover or back cover.
You may provide those things yourself at your own expense or you can keep your out of pocket costs to zero by opting into
Ka-Blam POS Ready Service. Click here for more details on how that works. 4) Once you and your items are in the Ka-Blam system you’ll be able to be to access the listing editor at your
Ka-Blam User Control Panel. As a publisher you are responsible for creating and maintaining your own listings and sample graphics (both must be within our guidelines of course). You will also set your own prices (although again this MUST be within our guidelines).
5) Once your listing(s) have been approved, they'll go live in the catalog, and retailers will be able to order your items.
Please note that we will not distribute any comics containing pornographic material or scenes of explicit sexual contact. 6) With each order of your items … from the very FIRST item sold … you’ll accumulate earnings.
For each copy of each item sold you’ll be credited with 10% of the cover price of that item. So for example, if your cover price is $3.99 (a common cover price) then your earnings on each sale will be $0.40. If you have a trade paperback priced at say $19.99 then you’ll earn $2 on each sale.
Keep in mind that you have no printing costs and no shipping costs. Potentially, no out of pocket costs AT ALL. ComicsMonkey gives you the freedom to create and publish without worrying about how much it's going to cost you ... because in most cases it'll cost you nothing!
You create your comics, send digital files to us, and we take it from there. We sell your comics. We print your comics. We ship your comics. We PAY you.
ComicsMonkey takes out all the hassle involved in traditional distribution. You never have to worry about purchase orders or benchmarks or thresholds or dropship points or even whether your book will be accepted for distribution.
You’ll be able to monitor your sales and earnings in real time from your
Ka-Blam User Control Panel. You can request a payout of your earnings at any time and we'll deliver that payout to you via Paypal within 5 business days. By the way, you WILL need a
Paypal account in order to receive your earnings.
